Recently I performed a concert with my dear friend Andrea Salvatore, wonderful tenor voce from Rome.
This is one of my favourite songs that we present. Ave Maria by G. Caccini. I am offering it as a meditation for Compassion for Humanity. I cannot help but reflect on the Compassion that these great women brought forth: Mother Mary, Mary Magadalene, Ruth, Mother Teresa, Quan Yin, Amma, Shakti, Lakshmi, Celtic Goddesses Brigit and Canola, and White Buffalo Calf Woman just to name a few.
Reaching out to all faiths, my hope is that people will intend for compassion for the world – for all peoples – for all sentient beings. I see this in the work we do bringing music and the harp to those in hospitals, hospices, cancer centers, and support centers through our International Harp Therapy Program.
Not only are the people that we are serving dealing with their own mortality but also the financial issues that are incurred to them and their families for their care. We need to continue working towards a compassionate world with the most diligence we have. Most of the people I know, both men and women, reach out with compassionate acts of helping. For all of you, I am blessed to know you. My hope is that those who live for a compassionate world, our hopes will prosper.
It will take all of us – hopes and prayers to deal with what may come. We need to come to a time when people are treated with respect, that children are not pulled from their parents and where we have learned that complacence and slackness is a thing of the past.
